Manchester United target Luis Gomes has been hailed 'the next Luis Figo' as his style of play has drawn comparisons with the legendary football icon, according to reports from UK outlet Mirror.

The 16-year-old wonderkid could be moving to the Old Trafford as the Red Devils are preparing a bid for him despite him signing his first professional contract in October.

Gomes recently signed a 5-year-deal with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, however it is claimed that United are already to snap-up the player having agreed a first-refusal option should Lisbon decide to sell.

The Premier League giants are hoping a £14million transfer fee will convince the Sporting Lisbon will allow the player move.

Manchester United have previously done business with the club having signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Nani from Sporting Lisbon earlier.

It was also gathered that Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid earlier made enquiries about the player, but he chose to remain at the Lisbon based club, with the Old Trafford his ultimate destination.

Gomes who joined Sporting Lisbon in 2010 at the tender age of six has just signed his first professional contract with the club and he is delighted about taking his career to the next level. He said:

"It is a unique feeling. This has always been one of my great goals since I joined the Academy.
"It is very good to feel that the club believes in me. Now I have to continue to work and fight to achieve more goals and return the confidence placed in me.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally taken his time to comment on Paul Pogba’s claims having shown interest in joining Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid.

Just before the start of this season, the Frenchman was in the middle of a controversy over renewal of his contract at the Old Trafford club.

The comment has reignited speculations about the player’s future, but United manager Solskjaer rubbished the claims saying the former Juventus star is still a Man Utd player.
