The Nigeria Army (NA) has reacted to claims that its proposed Exercise Crocodile Smile VI is part of the federal government's plan to forcefully end the ongoing EndSARS protest.

The NA responded on Sunday, October 18, by saying that this claim is completely false and that both developments have no relationship whatsoever, Vanguard reports.

The spokesman of the force, Colonel Sagir Musa, stated that this notion is no doubt the fabrication of misinformed persons.

His words:

“Thus, to now insinuate that it is an exercise meant to stifle the ongoing EndSARS protest is, to say the least, highly misinformed. Exercise Crocodile Smile VI has nothing to do with the ongoing protest and the NA has never been involved in the ongoing protest in any form whatsoever. So far, the army has acted professionally since the civil protest started over two weeks ago."

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, October 16, broke his silence on the nationwide EndSARS protest following numerous cases of police brutality in the country.

Osinbajo on his Twitter page in the night of Friday apologised to all Nigerians who were angry over what they regarded as slow response of the government to their cries and calls.
