Coronavirus: NCDC announces 113 new COVID-19 cases, total now 61,307

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 113 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 61,307.

The new cases which were announced by the disease control agency on Wednesday night, October 17, were recorded in 14 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Legit.ng notes that Lagos leads the chart with 37 cases while Kaduna and Ogun follow with 16 and 11 cases respectively.

So far, Nigeria has recorded 61,307 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 56,557 recoveries and 1,123 deaths, according to the NCDC data.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that 181 students and staff of a private boarding school in Lekki, Lagos tested positive for coronavirus.

Lagos commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi, said the cases were discovered during surveillance and case investigation in the school.

In another report, the federal government has warned the EndSARS protesters across the country to be mindful of the risk of getting COVID-19 infection.

Legit.ng reports that the director-general NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, gave the warning on Thursday, October 15, at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja.

He said the number of new cases the country may have would be determined by the people's behaviour and the circumstances that they find themselves.
