- Gianluigi Donnarumma missed a chance to join Chelsea during the summer transfer window
- The AC Milan shot stopper has been on the Blues’ radar for some time now
- Reports say the goalkeeper is considering contract extension at the Italian club
Gianluigi Donnarumma remains on the radar of Premier League club Chelsea, but report from Italy states that the goalkeeper is in discussion with Italian club AC Milan over renewal of his contract.
SunSport are claiming that the 21-year-old keeper is in talks with his agent Mino Raiola to facilitate the renewal of his contract with the Serie A giants.
The Blues are hoping to bringing the youngster to the Stamford Bridge on a free transfer next summer, despite signing goalkeeper Edouard Mendy recently.
With super agent Riola in talks with Milan, Chelsea will have to be on the lookout to see if anything concrete will come up.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato are reporting that Donnarumma, although, wants to leave the Italian club, he is now willing to extend his existing one which runs until June 2021.
In September, the club legend and now the technical director Paolo Maldini stated that there is nothing to rush about the future of the goalkeeper.
The 52-year-old told Sky Sport Italia:
"He has played 220 games with Milan at his age, that's absolutely uncommon. The more he goes on, the more he becomes a leader.
"He is a leader in training and with his behaviour. His growth has been truly exponential."
It was also gathered that French Champions Paris Saint-Germain as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid are also lurking around and ready to swoop, meaning Frank Lampard’s side have a tough battle in their bid.
Chelsea splashed a colossal £71.6million on Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
But he has made a string of errors over multiple seasons and has recently been replaced by £22m Edouard Mendy from Rennes.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Lampard has confirmed that new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will not be available for the coming match with Southampton.
The Senegalese goalkeeper got injured while on international duty and was sent back to Stamford Bridge for assessment on the injury he sustained.
Kepa Arrizabalaga's unimpressive performances in the Premier League made Chelsea chiefs to go for the signing of Mendy and has been impressive since he joined the Blues.
This means that Kepa Arrizabalaga or Willy Caballero will be behind the sticks for the Stamford Bridge landlords.
