Vice president Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, October 16, has broken his silence on the nationwide EndSARS protest following numerous cases of police brutality in the country.

Osinbajo on his Twitter page in the night of Friday apologised to all Nigerian who are angry over what they regard as slow response of the government to their cries and calls.

The vice president admitted that fellow citizens are justified to feel this way because the presidency on its party could have acted much faster in containing the situation.

"Dear Nigerians, I know that many of you are angry, and understandably so. We could’ve moved faster and for this we are sorry."

Osinbajo who expressed the knowledge that many Nigerians have been victims of police violence said:

"There are far too many people who have been brutalised at the hands of the police and this is unacceptable.
"We must take responsibility for protecting young people, even sometimes from those who are paid to protect them."

Moving forward, Osinbajo disclosed that the government has been engaged in several meeting with agencies and organisations, including the leadership of the National Assembly and that of the police with a view to ensure that justice is served and the menace is completely put to an end.
