The lawyer was born on 16th October 1960 in Lagos Nigeria as David Oluwafemi Adewunmi Abdulateef Fani-Kayode. He is the son of Victor Babaremilekun Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode (father) and Chief Mrs Adia Adunni Fani-Kayode (mother).

David was admitted to the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies in 1980. He graduated in 1983 with a Degree in LL.B Law. Femi then joined Cambridge University.

From Cambridge, he returned to his home country and joined the Nigerian Law School. In 1985, Fani-Kayode was called to the Nigerian Bar.

In 1993, he became a Pentecostal Christian under the sponsorship of Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams in Ghana. He then chose to join the Christian Action Faith Bible Seminary in Accra Ghana to study theology. He graduated in 1995 with a Diploma in Theology.

Career

Fani-Kayode worked in the law firm of the celebrated Chief Rotimi Williams in Lagos. Later, he moved to work at his father's law firm known as Fani-Kayode and Sowemimo.

After serving for three years, he was promoted to the post of a senior partner in 1989.
