EndSARS: Police say no suspect escaped from detention facility in Lagos

The Lagos state police command has denied that scores of suspects escaped from the detention facility of the recently disbanded controversial unit Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ikeja axis.
In a report by The Nation, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesman described the reports as mischievous, adding that it was unfounded and baseless.
Reports that went viral on social media claimed that on Wednesday night, October 14, many suspects fled from custody while being moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.

It was gathered that the force explained that the fake report is an attempt to cause fear and panic in the minds of people and distract the command.
The police command called on the general public to disregard the news as it is committed to reforming the policing system.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the police command in Lagos claimed that no EndSARS protester was killed in the state contrary to reports that have already gone viral in the media.
This position was put forward by the police commissioner in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, during his conversation with protesters most of whom were lawyers, on Tuesday, October 13.
Odumosu, rather said that what policemen have done so far is to protect protesters from hoodlums who tried to take advantage of the situation.
In a related development, the police command in Lagos state said it has arrested six hoodlums over an attack on passersby at Ebutte-Meta area as the #EndSARS protests continue.
The spokesman of the command said the incident took place on Tuesday, October 13. The suspects allegedly joined the harmless protesters and started destroying vehicle windscreens along Ondo street, Ebutte-Meta.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects arrested include Qudus Oke, 22, Abdullahi Ajose, 25, Kayi Ajayi, 33, Micheal Ben, 27, Godwin Joseph, 25, and Oluwasegun Akinlade, 29.
