Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, has lost his mother to the cold hands of death, a report from Tribune and OyoInsight, a top local newspaper from the state, claims.
Although no official statement has been issued as a check on the governor's social media pages bears no related pronouncement, Legit.ng gathers that Makinde's mum, Mrs Abigail, died on Thursday, October 15.
The Oyo governor's mother died at the age of 81 years, with her demise said to have plunged the entire Makinde's household into mourning.
It would be recalled that on July 11, 2019, Governor Makinde celebrated his mum when she became an octogenarian.

It was there the governor announced that his mum was someone whose bluntness and straightforward character he imbibed.
In his words:
“Actually, while growing up, when I saw other kids being given Christmas presents and I went to my mother to request for mine, she would tell me if I did not receive such presents yesterday, definitely I didn’t deserve them today. So, she is blunt to a fault.
"She says things the way they are and I think I took a little bit of that. We planned big for this birthday, but mama did not let us have it the way we have planned for it.
"When I asked her why, she replied that when my father turned 75, we had a big birthday event for him and he died one year after. So, I think Mama is not ready to die.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Governor Makinde ordered a full investigation into the death of Jimoh Isiaka, an anti-SARS protester allegedly killed on Saturday, October 10, by police operatives during a peaceful demonstration in Ogbomoso.
In a series of reaction-tweets, Governor Makinde, who was in Ondo for a special party duty, said he received with deep sadness the news of Isiaka's death.
The governor described the death of the victim, who died at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso hours after he was shot, as regrettable.
