- Neymar Jr overtakes Ronaldo Nazario to become Brazil's 2nd all-time top scorer
- The PSG star scored three goals in their World Cup qualifier vs Peru
- Nazario has now taken to social media to hail his countryman over the feat he recently achieved
Paris Saint Germain superstar Neymar became Brazil's second all-time highest goals scorer in history after netting a hat-trick against Peru in their World Cup qualifier earlier this week.
The 28-year-old converted two spot-kicks and tapped in his third as the Selecao sit atop of the table with six points - same as Argentina after two games.
His goals in the match helped him overtake the 62 goals record set by former striker Ronaldo Nazario who retired in 2011 after winning two World Cup titles.
The 44-year-old, despite losing the second spot to the former Barcelona winger wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, October 14:
"All my respect for you Neymarjr!. He plays a lot, gives assistance, plays, dribbles and thrashes. The sky is the limit. Fly, kid!
"What a beautiful story you are writing. A complete and increasingly mature player. Crack! Handling the pressure off the pitch is sometimes more challenging than the ball itself.
"Now tell me: where did we come from, where did we arrive...who is going to tell us what is impossible?
"Keep trusting your instincts because the talent is yours and nobody can take it from you. You have a lot of records to overcome and marks to leave. Proud to see a Brazilian at the top!"
Neymar will now have to shift focus to overtaking legendary Pele who has 77 goals before he could rise to become the country's all-time top scorer in history.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Paris Saint Germain superstar Neymar Jr is now Brazil's second-highest goals scorer with 64 goals after 103 appearances.
The 28-year-old scored a hat-trick in the Selecao's 4-2 triumph over Peru in their FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Estadio Nacional.
His three goals helped him overtake Ronaldo Nazario's 62 goals in 98 games across all competitions for the five-time world champions.
