Edinson Cavani has been excused from Manchester United next Premier League encounter against Newcastle United due to the compulsory self-isolation he was ordered to do.
The Uruguayan striker joined Manchester United on the deadline day after leaving Paris-Saint-Germain where he had spent eight years of his football career.
Manchester United chiefs ordered him to go into isolation due to the Coronavirus rules and that has ruled him out of the coming game against Newcastle according to report on UK Sun.
But despite being on isolation, the report added that Edinson Cavani has been training hard at home so as to be in good shape ahead of debut for Manchester United.
The 33-year-old could make his debut for Manchester United in their encounter against his former side Paris-Saint-Germain in the Champions League next week.
Before leaving Paris-Saint-Germain, Edinson Cavani played 301 games and scored 200 goals for the French champions winning six Ligue 1 titles.
He was part of the PSG squad that was knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester United on away goals in March last year.
Anthony Martial is expected to lead the attack again for Manchester United in their game against Newcastle United as the Red Devils will want to bounce back after last defeat against Spurs.
The 6-1 defeat against Jose Mourinho's side took Manchester United to 16th position on the Premier League table with three points after three games.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Edinson Cavani said the pair of Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood will flourish at Man United should the two improve on their work rate.
Both Greenwood and Martial have been mainstay squad players for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Norwegian continues his rebuilding bid at the club.
After the departure of Romelu Lukaku, Martial was handed United's no.9 shirt, with Solskjaer charging him with the responsibility of leading the club's attack line.
The arrival of Cavani is expected to complicate that with reports suggesting the Uruguayan could usurp Martial of the spot.
