Nigerian woman receives recognition plaque from US Navy

A Nigerian woman, Adeyemi Planche, has joined the pool of the nation’s citizens making the country really proud among the comity of nations.

A senior officer with the American Navy, she was recognised as the Sailor of the Fiscal Year 2020, an achievement that came as a result of her dedication to work, Tekedia reports.

The Nigerian was given the plaque of recognition by the US secretary of Navy, Hon Kenneth J Braithwaite.

It should be noted that Adeyemi had a first degree in computer engineering from the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye in Ogun state.

After that, she got her MBA from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho. While in Nigeria, she worked with both MTN and Ericsson.

Getting to America, the Nigerian woman got a master's degree in the field of information technology management from Trident University International, California.

According to the same media, her working place is at the Naval Air Station North Island. She is also a counsellor with the helicopter sea combat squad.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the navy commended a Nigerian man identified as Lieutenant Victor Agunbiade for managing its largest overseas cash disbursement office well.

Lieutenant Agunbiade was awarded the Navy and Marin Corp Development Medal for his exemplary accountability.

The US Navy said while serving as a disbursing officer, comptroller department, Camp Lemonnier Djibouti from October 2019 to July 2020, Lieutenant Agunbiade managed $45 million (N17,378,550,000) dollars in cash transaction well. The money accounted for approximately 70% of its overseas disbursing volume.
