A Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has been stolen in a hotel in Lagos state.
The vehicle was stolen on Sunday, October 11, at Toilam Royal Hotel and suites at Igbosere Road, Lagos Island.
According to Daily Trust, Oba Akanbi's security aides stayed at the hotel during the monarch's visit to Lagos state.
The traditional ruler said the white security vehicle has “Oba Adewale Akanbi” engraved on its mirrors, windshield and engine.
“It is true, we have reported to security agents. My Hilux car was stolen overnight (11/10/2020) at Toilam Royal Hotel and suites at Igbosere Road L/Island, Lagos state.
“The white Hilux was engraved with “Oba Adewale Akanbi” on its mirrors, windshield and its engine. TOYOTA HILUX Chassis number is MFOFX22G6F1431653.”
In other news, the removal of the controversial monarch, Oluwo of Iwo, is being demanded by the kingmakers in Iwo.
The kingmakers comprising of 12 chiefs wrote a petition to Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state and stated that Oba Akanbi is not representing them well.
The traditional ruler has, however, dismissed the call as a conspiracy led by his rival to the throne, saying it is dead on arrival.
In the petition, they noted that the monarch has a penchant for fighting notable personalities within and outside Iwoland.
The petition read in part:
"He insulted the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Orangun of Ila, and other prominent Obas in the state."
