With campaigns for 2023 presidential election already on, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Garus Gololo, has begun to drum support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president and Governor Simon Lalong as his running mate.

In a meeting with journalists in Abuja recently, Gololo called on all politicians and governors in the ruling party to drop their interest in the seats and canvass for the APC national leader and Lalong, Leadership reports.

The APC bigwig argued that both pillars in the party are capable of defeating whoever the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will come up with in the election due to their impressive records.

He said:

“I’m challenging any Northerner that will have the ambition of coming out as president in 2023 to step down for Senator Ahmed Tinubu, the ‘Jagaban of Africa’, he is the one Nigerians are waiting for because he will be a credible candidate.
"He should be paired with Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state as his vice president, not Hon. Yakubu Dogara or Boss Mustapha as speculated.”
