The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the final collation of the local government results in the just concluded Ondo governorship election.

The election took place in 3,009 polling units in the 203 wards of the 18 local government areas in the southwest state.
So far, the electoral body has announced the results from 12 local government areas.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rotimi Akeredolu, won nine of out the local government areas so far while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede clinched the remaining three LGAs.
The third top candidate in the election, Agboola Ajayi, of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is yet to win in any of the local government.
INEC official has called for a recess to enable other local governments to collate and present their results.
The announcement of results will resume at 9am on Sunday, October 11, according to the electoral body.
Below is a list of the six remaining LGAs that will finally determine the winner of the Ondo governorship election when INEC resumes collation:
1. Ilaje local government area
2. Ose local government area
3. Okitipupa local government area
4. Ese Odo local government area
5. Ondo West local government area
6. Odigbo local government area

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the candidate of the PDP, Jegede, won his polling unit. He polled 220 votes to defeat Governor Akeredolu of the APC who scored 60 and ZLP's Agboola Ajayi who polled seven votes.
He voted at Unit 009, Ward 2, Akure local government area located inside Sacred Heart Primary School, Cathedral area of the state capital.
Similarly, Ajayi won the election in his polling unit. He voted at Polling Unit 004, Ward 2 in Kiribo, Ese-Odo local government area of the state.
