Chelsea's new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been ruled out for about two weeks after picking up an injury while on international duty for Senegal.
The 28-year-old suffered a thigh problem during his country's friendly game against Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
However, the Blues' medical team has assessed the extent and has assured Frank Lampard the injury is not as bad as it seems according to The Athletic.
Reports claim Mendy is likely to miss a trip to Southampton next weekend but will be back early enough for their Champions League against Sevilla.
The former Rennes number one made an impressive debut for the London club after keeping a clean sheet in their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Lampard might have to turn to under-fire Kepa Arrizabalaga or Willy Caballero while his new signing is out injured.
The Spaniard was in goal for Spain against Portugal in their friendly game and kept a clean sheet despite last making any appearances for Chelsea in their 2-0 defeat vs Liverpool.
Kepa said earlier this week that he is confident one reclaiming his number one shirt from the new signing, he said:
"I feel fine, strong, with confidence. The situation is not ideal, I wasn't expecting it, but we are footballers and have to live through situations like this. I am confident I can turn the situation around."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian winger Victor Moses is on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to Russian club Spartak Moscow from Chelsea.
The 29-year old recently returned to Stamford Bridge after his short reign at Inter Milan expired at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Before then, he had spent one year with Turkish giants Fenerbahce where he scored five goals in 20 key games.
