Adebayo Akinfenwa is reportedly considering a wrestling career as he holds talks with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company over a possible move into the Vince McMahon’s wrestling promotion.

The 38-year-old Wycombe Wanderers’ striker was recently named the strongest player in the world according to Fifa 21 ratings.

Consequently, a career in professional wrestling seems possible for a man popularly called ‘The Beast’.

SunSport are reporting that Akinfenwa first showed interest in wrestling in April 2019 as it was gathered that he had the passion after a meeting withn Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

His children are also said to be a lover of the sport, and now, the EFL star says swapping penalties for piledrivers remains a very real possibility. He said as quoted by talkSPORT:

"I’ve had a couple of calls recently in regards to that (going into wrestling).
"I’ll be following up on that soon – so it could go up or down depending on the outcome of that.
"I can’t tell you a direct percentage in terms of that [coming to fruition], but it’s something I’m really passionate about, so watch this space, people."

If this pulls through, Akifenwa also mentioned names of professional footballers he would love to take on if they change their career path as well.

"In terms of a Royal Rumble that’s something I’d want to win obviously – and there’s some tough lads out there, you know.
"VVD [Virgil van Dijk] is in there all day long and [Adama] Traore of course. [Sebastian] Haller has to be in too, he’s a very strong guy, then there’s the likes of Troy Deeney and [Michael] Antonio.
"Whoever I haven’t mentioned they can get at me later, but I back myself 100 per cent!"

Legit.ng earlier reported that Akinfenwa disclosed that he feels let down by the FA after they ruled out a man who called him a ‘fat water buffalo’ as not being racist.

The British-born Nigerian striker who plies his trade with Championship side Wycombe heard the abuse from a Fleetwood Town representative during last season’s League One play-off semi-final.

The 38-year-old who was subjected to racial abuse and felt ‘angry, frustrated and dehumanised’ and reported the incident to the FA.
