Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal on Thursday, October 8, denied the report which said he has declared for his 2023 presidential ambition.

Daily Trust reports that some social media reported that Tambuwal has picked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

Legit.ng gathered that Tambuwal in a statement by his media aide, Muhammad Bello, said he has not declared his intention to contest for the presidency as reported by some social media outlets.

“For this reason, the governor dissociates himself from such fabricated misinformation and misleading reportage."

Bello noted that the governor’s focus now was on delivering good governance and the dividends of democracy to the people of Sokoto state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the southern leaders frowned at Governor Tambuwal's move to intensify his efforts to realise his presidential ambition.

It was reported that the leaders expressed their displeasure after the news broke about the Sokoto governor's bid for the country's number one job.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, southern leaders on Monday, August 24, said Tambuwal’s ambition would increase the feeling of injustice and exclusion in the south.

He made the disclosure on Saturday, September 12, at the flag-off of the Ondo state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship election campaign in Akure.

Tambuwal stressed that instead of the APC administration to rejuvenate the economy and provide palliatives for citizens, they removed subsidy from petrol and increased electricity tariffs.
