EndSARS: Comedian Mr Macaroni joins protest, addresses Lagos state speaker (videos)

- Nigerian comedian, Adedayo Adebowale aka Mr Macaroni, recently lent his voice to a menace threatening the society

- The funnyman joined the nationwide SARS protest that took place on October 8, 2020, and was still at it till the wee hours of the next day

- In viral videos on social media, Macaroni was seen addressing Lagos state government officials and letting them know that they were in office to serve the people and not the other way round

Nigerian comedian, Mr Macaroni, was one celebrity who made sure his voice was heard during the nationwide End SARS protest that was held on October 8, 2020.

The funnyman joined a host of others on the field and he also addressed Lagos state government officials during a march to their office.

While speaking to the chief of staff, the comedian explained how it was not too much for citizens to make demands from the people they elected into office. He recounted how he once protested during xenophobia attacks and they were told to bring a letter which they eventually did and nothing was done.

He said:

“I’m not here today as a comedian. I’m here as a citizen of the country in Lagos state and that my life at the moment is being threatened by SARS. I fear that if I drive now and I go home, I could get a bullet in my head. It could be my sister, it could be my brother, and it could be my loved ones.”

Speaking further he said:

“If we say we want to see the one that we elected into office, it’s not too much.”

Mr Macaroni was eventually able to address the Lagos state speaker and he made it clear that the people were tired because those who were put in place to protect lives were taking them without remorse. He also said that the only function of the government was to serve the people.

He said:

“Every time this happens, we keep waiting for the government to take action. The government is there to serve, there’s no other function of government than to serve. The government is not and can never be above the people, they are working for us. So when we have issues that are biting us, it must be attended to without delay.”
