- Jesse Lingard could be on his way to join FC Porto this summer
- The Portuguese transfer window is still open until October 25
- Lingard made 22 appearances last season and scored just one goal
Jesse Lingard has emerged a shock transfer target for top Portuguese side FC Porto as the Man United star is seeking for a season-long loan move this summer.
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side and the forward is looking to revive his career elsewhere.
The Portuguese transfer window is still open until October 25, and the Primeira Liga champions are keen on landing the Englishman.
Lingard made 22 appearances for the Red Devils last season and managed to score only a goal until the final day against Leicester City.
He has now joined up with Paul Pogba's superagent Mino Raiola which Man United legend Darren Fletcher believes Lingard wants to leave Old Trafford for good.
Fletcher told Sky Sports:
"It's unknown. The alarm bells started ringing for me when he appointed Mino Raiola as his agent. Now you don't appoint Mino Raiola as your agent if you're looking at staying at a club.
"That suggests to me that he's looking for a move. He's not a starter in Manchester United's strongest team, he's a squad player now. Yes, he's come through the club and he's been there a long time.
"Maybe, he feels like he is ready for a new challenge and maybe he feels he is at an age now where he needs to be a starter, he can't be a squad player.
"It will be interesting to see what happens between now and the end of the window."
Former England striker Darren Bent also backed Lingard to United this summer so he can get regular first-team football.
"For me Jesse's got to go and play football again.
"Not too long ago, he was one of England's main men, at the World Cup he was absolutely superb and he's kind of lost his way a bit now.
"I'd love to see someone like Jesse - he's getting on a bit now - go somewhere, play week in and week out. It's not going to be at United, it's going to be tough to leave.
"Go and show everyone you are still a good player and you've still got a big future with England."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho have been dropped from England's squad that will face Wales in an international friendly at the Wembley Stadium.
The trio was spotted in a surprise party organised by family and friends at Abraham's mansion for his 23rd birthday.
The party broke social distancing rules as 20 people were believed to have been in the Chelsea striker's house for the bash.
