The re-election bid of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu got a major boost as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Peter Oyeleye Fasua, has withdran from the governorship race, Channels TV reports.
Fasua on Monday, October 5, collapsed his structure into the APC and declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
He was received by Akeredolu and other members of the APC after his announcement.
According to him, the decision to step down for Akeredolu is the doing of God. He went on to note that it was God's agenda for him.
The former governorship aspirant who is a native of Akure, the state capital also donated his campaign office and buses to the campaign organisation of Akeredolu.
Akeredolu in response to Fasua's announcement explained that his addition to the party is a wonderful thing. He described the former SDP governorship candidate as a man with some amazing characters.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that ahead of the Ondo guber election, about eleven political parties have formed an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), handing a boost to the ambition of Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
The merger was announced on Monday, October 5, in Akure, the state capital by SDP chairman, Oladele Ogunbameru, who doubles as the spokesperson of the political parties.
Addressing journalists while announcing the merger, the SDP chairman said the political parties are forming an alliance against the bad government of Governor Akeredolu.
In a related development, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has expressed confidence that the ruling party, APC will win the Ondo governorship election.
The governor said the strength of the APC will be revealed by the outcome of the Ondo guber poll, further explaining that the ruling party is not facing any challenge like what played out during the Edo governorship election.
