Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have been hit with another blow after their winger Xherdan Shaqiri was confirmed to have contracted the deadly Coronavirus.
The 28-year-old Swiss footballer is now the third Liverpool player tested positive for the virus in the space of one week.
Thiago Alcantara who joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich first tested positive to Coronavirus before Senegal international Sadio Mane joined him in self-isolation after he also contracted.
According to the report on UK Mirror, Swiss FA confirmed the latest about Xherdan Shaqiri.
"Xherdan Shaqiri has tested positive for Covid-19.
"In consultation with the health authorities, he is in isolation and clarifications are currently underway with the local health authorities about how to proceed."
With this latest development, it means Xherdan Shaqiri will miss Switzerland's coming friendly game against Croatia on Wednesday, October 8.
Switzerland will also take on Spain on Saturday, October 10, and Germany next week Tuesday in the Nations League.
Recently, Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp explained his concerns after Sadio Mane tested positive claiming the international games may worsen the problem for all clubs.
Liverpool without Sadio Mane October 4, suffered an embarrassing defeat when they lost 7-2 against Aston Villa.
The Reds will be traveling to Everton for their next game against Carlo Ancelotti's men who have won all their four games so far this term.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how English professional striker Rhian Brewster completed a move to Sheffield United from reigning Premier League champions Liverpool with target of getting regular playing time.
The trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been leading the attack for Liverpool for the past three seasons in which no one has been able to break in.
Crystal Palace and Aston Villa were interested in signing the 20-year-old from Liverpool, but Rhian Brewster decided to move to Sheffield United.
Sheffield United have not been doing well this term in the Premier League as they have lost their first three games this season. Rhian Brewster will have to lift his game so as to help the side get more goals which could take them out of the drop zone.
