- Telles is expected to compete with Luke Shaw for the left-back position
Alex Telles is closer to completing his dream move to Manchester United in a deal valued around £18 million from FC Porto.
The 27-year-old was said to have arrived in England on Sunday, October 4, after been pictured wearing a mask in the back of a Mercedes being driven by a club executive.
He was said to have undergone medical immediately at the Carrington complex and sources claim the defender has already signed dotted lines.
The Portugal international arrived barely 24 hours after Tottenham Hotspur hammered the Red Devils 6-1 at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw will have to step up his game in a bid to retain his spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad going.
The Norwegian born tactician will be hoping to solve the issues surrounding the backline after his side's humiliation.
SunSport reports that United initially proposed £12 million for the player but the Portuguese club turned the offer down before both sides eventually settled for £18m.
The publication further revealed that Solskjaer had to appeal to his board to find the cash to land his man.
Telles' attacking prowess was said to have caught the attention of the Red Devils manager, having scored 13 goals with 12 assists in 49 appearances last season. He was Porto's designated spot-kick specialist.
Meanwhile, the Old Trafford outfit is expected to do serious business in the transfer window before the window shuts later today. They are closing in on a one-year move for Edinson Cavani.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot who has joined Italian side AC Milan for the rest of the season.
Diogo Dalot joined Manchester United last two seasons from FC Porto but found it difficult to get regular playing time under gaffer Ole Solskjaer since last term.
The 21-year-old has played 35 games for Manchester United scoring only one goal in all competitions before Manchester United loaned him out.
