IBB reveals why he is afraid to write a book about his life
- Ex-military president, IBB, is scared to write a book about his life and times as many of his colleagues have done
- IBB's reason is mainly that he is afraid of getting sued and wasting time in courtrooms
- The retired military general, however, admitted that he was also under oath not to reveal certain classified information

A former Nigerian military ruler, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, more popularly known as IBB, has revealed that he is afraid to write a tell-all book about his life.
IBB ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993 as a military president, as he called it, and made history for annulling the June 12, 1993 election that was adjudged freest and fairest contest in Nigeria's political history.
The Nation reports that IBB told Channels Television in an interview that he was particularly scared of court cases that would follow revelations in his book.
He said:
“I am scared of somebody suing me to court to say that I libelled somebody or that I misrepresented somebody and I will spend five years going to court.”

The former Nigerian leader also admitted that he was under oath not to reveal certain classified information until they had been declassified.
This he brushed aside as the way things were done in other parts of the world.
IBB, who was popularly called Maradona back in the days because of his uncanny ways of outwitting political opponents, noted:
"Don’t forget, not only in Nigeria but throughout the world, for a certain number of years beyond which anybody will punish you for opening the secret because you have passed certain limitation period."
Babangida teased those waiting for his life story in a book by saying that his memoirs would eventually be written then added that if they do not get written, deep research would make up for the empty space.
He said:
“It (memoirs) will come but if it doesn’t come my children will go into the classroom and make research. Everything that will need research about us we have it in abundance. I know that General Obasanjo has a library that is very rich."
Legit.ng reported recently that IBB joined President Buhari for a virtual council of state meeting that the incumbent convened from inside the State House, Abuja.
The meeting was attended by other past presidents like Goodluck Jonathan, Ernest Shonekan and Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Also in attendance were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, the Senate president, Ahmad Lawan and the Buhari's chief of staff, Ibrahim Gambari.
