- Ousmane Dembele will not be leaving Barcelona soon despite Man United's interest
- Barcelona sporting direct Roman Planes confirmed the development
- The Frenchman joined Barca in 2017 but has failed to make a quality impact at the Camp Nou
Barcelona have denied making contact with Manchester United over the transfer of Ousmane Dembele this transfer window.
The Catalan club added that the 23-year-old World Cup winner is not going anywhere for now according to the club's sporting director Ramon Planes.
Dembele was earlier linked with a move away from the Nou Camp with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all interested in the player.
However, the Blaugrana have now come out to say the forward is part of Ronald Koeman's project for the 2020-21 season as reported by Goal.com.
Dembele's reign at the Spanish club has been marred majorly with a series of injuries and a lack of impact since his big-money move in 2017.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hoping to land the former Borussia Dortmund star on loan after failing to secure Jadon Sancho's services when they had the chance this summer.
While answering questions from the media, Planes insisted that there has not been any kind of communication between the two clubs.
“First of all, no negotiations with Man United at the moment, completely deny that. He's a player we count on, we know his potential. We hope this year the team sees the best of him.”
Planes further told the media that Barca is doing everything possible to help Koeman get the players he wants and needs. He added:
“We have a good squad, who have competed very well. There are always teams to reinforce. We are working with the coach. Daily communication. On an attacking level there is great potential and, defensively, it is true that it is weaker.
“We will work until the last day to bring the best and, if someone comes, who can be good. We will not sign for the sake of signing someone. Soon there will be another market.”
Barca do have gaps to fill within their squad, with prolific frontman Luis Suarez having been allowed to leave for domestic rivals Atletico Madrid while Portuguese full-back Nelson Semedo has been sold to Wolves.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona have launched what the club describe as urgent operation looking to clear out twelve players in a bid to get funds to bring in at least three new players.
Among the players expected to leave the club are Luis Suarez, Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite who according to reports are now surplus to the squad.
Barcelona need cash to bring in a strong midfielder and a forward as well as a left-footed centre-back after they finally resolved their saga with Lionel Messi.
