PDP governors call for national conversation

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) has said Nigerians need to hold a national conversation to resolve the problems facing the country.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State who currently serves as the forum’s chairman made the statement during his Independence Day anniversary speech on Thursday, October 1.

He said a national dialogue was the realistic way Nigerians could find a way forward, The Nation reported.

The governor said:

“We cannot continue to plead indifference or remain helpless in the face of challenges confronting us as a people.

“Nigeria is our common heritage; we must not allow the worsening social contradictions to destroy our country."

He said the problems that have continued to pose a threat to the national unity of the country can be attended to through national conversation.

Tambuwal called for various groups and leaders in Nigeria to be among those taking part in the national dialogue.

Meanwhile, Festus Keyamo, minister of state for labour and employment, has stated that Nigeria's divisibility is "no longer feasible" due to some factors ranging from economic relation to marital connectivity.

Speaking through a tweet on his personal Twitter page on Thursday, October 1, the senior lawyer and minister declared that Nigeria can no longer be separated — dishing a brutal blow to continued calls for a breakup.

Legit.ng gathered that Keyamo who spoke in celebration of Nigeria's 60th anniversary of insisted that Nigeria's diversity is rich and unique with a long history of criss-cross marriages and investments.
