N147bn refund: Ondo, Rivers, three other states to benefit as Buhari seeks approval

- President Buhari has written the National Assembly to approve the refund of N147bn spent on federal roads by five states

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the National Assembly to approve the refund of N148 billion to Ondo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Osun and Rivers states.

The is for the federal road projects executed by the five states, according to a report by Premium Times.

Legit.ng gathers that the president made this known in a letter sent to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and read on the floor of the house on Tuesday, September 29.

In a similar development, Legit.ng recalls that President Buhari in 2019 requested the Senate's approval to pay N10.069 billion as settlement of promissory note to the Kogi State government.

Senate president Ahmad Lawan read President Buhari's letter of request on the floor of the Senate.

According to Lawan, Buhari's letter is “requesting for the resolution of the National Assembly on the issuance of N10.069 billion for promissory note programme of Kogi state and a bond issuance to settle inherited debt."

Meanwhile, after observing its annual recess which lasted over two months, the Nigerian Senate has on Tuesday, September 29, resumed plenary.

The Senate went into a closed session at about 10.41am after the Senate president led the prayers and approved the votes and proceedings for the day.
