Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of solving their defensive woes with a move for Ruben Dias this window.

The Citizens suffered their first Premier League defeat last weekend after being humiliated by Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend.

Coach Brendan Rodgers' men ran off with a 5-2 victory with Jamie Vardy grabbing his first hat-trick of the new season.

Nathan Ake and Riyad Mahrez scored a goal each but they were not enough to help the home team avoid outright humiliation.

Dias has undergone medical at the club but will not be able to complete his move unless Nicolas Otamendi is certified to join Benfica.

Since the departure of Vincent Kompany, City have missed some quality defending and they could solve that problem this window.

Ake joined them from Bournemouth in a deal around £40 million, but it is obvious the Pep Guardiola needed more than just the Dutchman.

Apart from Dias, the Spanish-born tactician was also eyeing a move for Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, Sevilla's Jules Kounde, and Jose Gimenez at Atletico.

However, they seem to have settled for the 23-year-old and could secure his signature in the coming days.
