Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to help Juventus avoid defeat against Roma in their second Serie A match of the season last weekend.

The Old Lady are two points behind log leaders; Napoli, Veron, and AC Milan but the 35-year-old believes they are on course for a record 10th consecutive Serie A title.

Despite not doing much business in the transfer market this window, the Portugal international is unfazed about the situation but predicted a 'bright future' under the new boss, Andrea Pirlo.

He told Sky Sports Italia:

"We're at the start of the season, there's a new coach, new ideas, but I see the team working well.

"We're enthusiastic and I see a bright future for us. What we're seeing is that the team is happy to work with a smile."

Ronaldo inspired the Turin based club to their ninth straight title but that was not enough to help Maurizio Sarri keep his job.

The former Chelsea manager was fired after failing to help them progress beyond the second leg of their round 16 of their Champions League game against Lyon last campaign.

Ronaldo visibly clashed with the Italian on multiple occasions and fans became frustrated by his 'Sarri-ball' slow possession tactics. Under Pirlo, the mood has been completely flipped.

Ronaldo started in a front two alongside summer arrival Alvaro Morata, and while the latter fell flat on his first game back, he already has one eye on Europe.

"Leaving Juventus was not up to me,' he explained. 'I was happy in Madrid, but now it's important for me to be here and I have kept in touch with everyone over the years.
"It was a great memory and now we have new challenges to face together.
"The Champions League is very important to Juventus. If we were to win it this year, I would be the happiest man in the world. We want to win it."

They now prepare to face an in-form Napoli next weekend after Gennaro Gattuso's side put on a 6-0 masterclass against Genoa.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net twice helping Juventus to a 2-2 draw against very determined AS Roma in their second Serie A fixture of the season.

A towering header and a duly converted penalty kick helped the Portuguese striker complete his brace, saving 10-man Juventus from defeat.

The brace took the 35-year-old’s tally for the 2020/21 campaign to three goals, while he has now netted an incredible 450 times across Europe’s top leagues.
