William Troost-Ekong has departed Italia Serie A club Udinese where he made 65 appearances after joining in 2018, and now the centre-back is expected to join Watford.

He has arrived in the UK ahead of his much anticipated move to the Championship side as the club got relegated from the Premier League last season.

Watford Observer are reporting that the 27-year-old Nigerian has been on the radar of the club for some time now and the deal is set to be finally sealed.

The defender has played in England before during his youth career, when he spent time at both Fulham and Tottenham and has 42 international caps with the Super Eagles.

He has said goodbye to his teammates and is set to complete a permanent move from the fellow Pozzo-owned club.

Troost-Ekong had been an important part of the Udinese squad; recall that he was in the thick of action helping the squad to record a stunning 2-1 victory over runaway Serie A leaders Juventus on July 23.

The Little Zebras claimed all three points at home to the Old Lady as they came from behind to win the game against all odds.

“I am very happy because of these three heavy three points and also because before the game, no one would have bet on us,” Troost-Ekong told Udinese TV, as cited in Complete Sports.

"They came here to celebrate and that charged us before the game. Today, we played with personality and deserved to win."

The Nigeria international who was deployed in midfield in recent outings also assured he is ready to play in any position.

He is expected to help Watford in their quest to returning to the English top-flight.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has confirmed that Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria has shown his readiness to play for Nigeria.

Ejaria who was born to Nigerian parents in England trained with the Golden Eaglets in 2013 but, failed to make the squad that won the U17 Fifa World Cup in United Aram Emirates that year.

Former Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh had earlier stated that a source hinted him that Ejaria has committed to Nigeria, adding that, paperwork was already with FIFA, and Nigerian passport needs to be renewed.
