Former Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki has congratulated Hon. Salihu Muhammad Yahaya, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has just been declared winner of the state assembly by-election in Patigi area of Kwara state.
The election tribunal declared Yahaya on Monday, September 28. Saraki who congratulated Yahaya made this known on his Twitter page.
"A big congrats to candidate of our party @OfficialPDPNig for the State Assembly By-Election held in Patigi, Kwara State on 14th March 2020. Hon. Salihu Muhammad Yahaya has just been declared winner by a tribunal.
"I also congratulate all our stakeholders for their steadfastness," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Bukola Saraki finally revealed why he kept mute and refused to challenge the results of the 2019 presidential election.

The former Senate boss said that he maintained silence for peace to reign, adding that “the lives of our people, the stability of our democracy and the peace of the society are more important than our personal interest or the inflated egos of the leaders.”
Saraki revealed that after the elections, he sent messages to his supporters to accept the results and the newly elected officials in good faith for the sake of Nigeria's democracy since according to him, an election not a do or die affair.
Legit.ng had also reported that Saraki congratulated Godwin Obaseki over his re-election for the second term as the governor of Edo state.
In his congratulatory message, the former Senate president noted that Obaseki's victory at the poll will have several implications for Nigeria’s democracy.
Saraki said the Edo governor's re-election represented the determination of the Edo people to decide who governs them and to ensure their votes count at all times.
