Former governor Uduaghan returns to PDP in Delta state

- The Delta state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party is buzzing at the moment

- This is because a former governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has returned to the party

- Uduaghan had left the PDP to join the APC in August 2020 and contested for a senatorial seat which he lost

A former governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Uduaghan, a medical doctor turned politician, joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in August 2018, but has now returned to the PDP.

He wrote on his Facebook page:

“I am back home. I am back to join forces with other party greats to strengthen our party, the largest Party in Africa -PDP!
“Haven tasted the other side, it feels refreshing to be back home! Thank you all for receiving me back. It feels like I never left. God bless you!”

There have been reports the ex-governor had finalised plans to return to the PDP on which platform he was elected and served as governor for eight years.

He was said to have had a cold-war with his successor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, but that seems to be in the past now.

Uduaghan was recently sighted at an event with Governor Okowa and his predecessor, Chief James Ibori in attendance.

The issues that forced the former governor to dump the PDP, where he was a founding member, were said to have been resolved.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Uduaghan denied claims by the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godwill Akpabio, linking him to contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In a statement by his media aide, Monoyo Edon, Uduaghan described Akpabio's allegations as mere lies, insisting that he did not at any time get any contract from the NDDC.

Part of the statement read:

“We want to state very clearly that the said accusation is false. Dr Uduaghan has never approached the NDDC for any contract whatsoever. It is even more ridiculous that the said contract is a road inside Port Harcourt town.”
