- Messi’s wife's farewell message to Suarez’ partner Balbi reduced her to tears
Antonela Roccuzo has sent an emotional farewell to Luis Suarez’ partner Sofia Balbi after the Uruguayan signed a two year deal to join Barcelona rivals Atletico Madrid.
Suarez was told to leave the club following the arrival of new manager Ronald Koeman who placed a less than one minute call to end the player’s career at the Camp Nou.
Despite Suarez scoring at least 20 goals for the club in each of his six seasons since his arrival, the former Liverpool striker had his contract terminated at the Catalan club.
He joins Atletico on a two year deal and will hope to impress for the Diego Simeone tutored side.
While parting with the club, Suarez who is Barcelona’s third all-time goal scorer thanked the fans for their support during his six-year reign.
And it is understood that the Messi’s and the Suarez’ are close families as they lived not too far from each other.
SunSport are reporting that the wives of both players are best friends after their husbands starred for the Camp Nou side together.
But it was his wife Sofia who sobbed after Messi's other-half Antonela shared an emotional goodbye to the pair.
The 32-year-old wrote: "Bolu, my friend, my sister… thank you for so many years together.
"For so many laughs, so many Mates and unending chats.
"You are like family for us. I can't tell you how much, so very much, I'm going to miss you and your amazing family.
"Thank you for everything! Let's hope life keeps giving us moments [to spend] together and I'm sure we'll see each other again soon!
"I love you, your [family]."All the best with this new step."
Sofia quickly responded: "And when I thought I had no more tears I found this!
"Thank you for so much of what you said and for all that we have left to live …I love you, I adore you."
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Uruguay international will now earn as low as £160,000 a week (£8.3million a year) as compared to the £405,000 weekly at the Nou Camp as reported by SunSport quoting Marca.
This is due to the economic crisis caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 on Spanish League teams as well as other clubs across the globe.
Barca have been so open with how much the pandemic has affected them - hence, the need to get the former Liverpool attacker off their wage bill.
