Ordinarily, the name Fayemi commands a lot of respect both in the state and nationally based on his offices as an APC bigwig and the chairman of the Nigerian Governors'Forum (NGF); thus, that he was accused of misconduct which eventually led to his recent suspension is a development that has rocked the nation's political space since the news surfaced.
Legit.ng, in this piece, outlines the claims made against Fayemi in a statement signed by Senator Tony Adeniyi and Senator Babafemi Ojudu including other faction leaders in the party.
To start with, the ruling party's faction accused the governor of having secretly worked with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo to defeat the APC in the last governorship election.

A part of the statement pointed out that Fayemi was suspended due to "his numerous anti-party activities, especially his role in the recently concluded governorship election in Edo state which is contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC Constitution.”

The faction specifically claimed that the Ekiti governor recently hosted a top PDP pillar, Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, in Government House to plot the ousting of the APC in Edo.
In the statement, Kayode was said to have worked closely with Governor Godwin Obaseki and providing him with the needed support to win the poll.
The writeup stated:
"For five days prior to the Edo elections, Gov Fayemi hosted PDP big wig Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode in the government house in Ado Ekiti in the run-up to the Edo elections. It was here they perfected the coup against our party in Edo State. This is the same Fani-Kayode who daily abuses President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC as a party as well a vital section of our country. We have evidence of that meeting.
"Fani-Kayode specifically said he has gone on his tour as part of an effort between him and Fayemi to build a cross-party alliance and few hours after leaving Ekiti he fired a shot at Asiwaju Tinubu."
Moreover, apart from claiming that the governor assisted the PDP candidate in Oyo Seyi Makinde (now the governor) to defeat the APC during the gubernatorial poll, the faction also accused the Kayode of providing a candidate who stood against an APC senator, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, in the tribunal.
Even more, Kayode was dragged for allegedly challenging the nomination late Senator Abiola Ajimobi for the office of the deputy national chairman of the APC in court.
Another surprising thing about Fayemi's suspension is that it is coming a day after some APC chieftains, including presidential aide Ojodu, were suspended by the Ekiti APC.
