Lionel Messi has written an emotional farewell message to his former team-mate Luis Suarez who has left Barcelona to sign a two-year deal with rivals Atletico Madrid.
In his latest Instagram post, the Argentine who is best friends with the Uruguayan took a swipe at the Barcelona board on how the player was thrown out of the club.
Both players alongside Neymar were partners in the Barcelona attack between year 2013 to 2017 as they formed part of one of the deadliest trios football has ever seen.
Suarez was told to leave the club following the arrival of new manager Ronald Koeman who placed a less than one minute call to end the player’s career at the Camp Nou.
"I had already began to imagine it, but today I went into the dressing room and it truly dawned on me. It's going to be so difficult to not continue to share every day with you both on the pitches and away from them," he wrote on Instagram.
"We're going to miss you so much. We spent many years together, drunk many mates (teas), had many lunches and many dinners. So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together.
"It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch. You deserved a farewell that fit with who you are: one of the most important players in the history of the club.
"Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level. You do not deserve to be thrown out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore."
However, Legit.ng earlier reported that Luis Suarez has reiterated his love for Spanish club Barcelona as he leaves the Camp Nou side to join rivals Atletico Madrid after he signed a two year contract.
Despite Suarez scoring at least 20 goals for the club in each of his six seasons since his arrival, the former Liverpool striker had his contract terminated at the Catalan club.
He joins Atletico on a two year deal and will hope to impress for the Diego Simeone tutored side. While parting with the club, Suarez who is Barcelona’s third all-time goal scorer thanked the fans for their support during his six-year reign.
