Everton are reportedly planning to make a move for £13.75 million-rated Barcelona defender, Jean-Clair Todibo this transfer window.
The Toffees have made four signings so far including James Rodriguez from Real Madrid and Allan (Napoli) but are yet to give much attention to their defence.
Italian born manager, Carlo Ancelotti has now shifted focus to bringing the 20-year-old to the Goodison Park and strengthen his back four.
The Premier League outfit will have to battle French club Rennes for the defender's signature, who spent the 2019-20 season on loan at German side Schalke.
Despite making 13 appearances for the Bundesliga side last term, Ronald Koeman does not see him as part of his plan for this season.
Todibo joined Barca on a four-year deal valued around €1 million from Ligue 1 side, Toulouse and he has failed to impress his employers so far.
SunSport citing The Mail Online claims the Spanish club will only entertain offers from £13.75m - and it is left to Everton to meet their demands.
The publication further revealed that two interested clubs are hoping the Spanish League side would reduce the price. Barca are hoping to raise funds for the signing of Ajax full-back Sergino Dest.
Ancelotti admits he wants to sign a defender before this transfer window closes on October 5.
Everton have also been linked with a move for Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori, but must first trim down the squad before bringing him in.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona have jumped in the chase to land out-of-favour Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger before the transfer window closes next month.
The German star has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge with Frank Lampard preferring the partnership between Kurt Zouma and Andrea Christensen in the central defence.
Both defenders have featured in the Blues' first two Premier League games since the start of the new season.
