Condemnation has trailed the reported assassination of Bulus Janka, a traditional ruler in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state.
The traditional ruler was reportedly killed on Monday night, September 21, at his residence in the Rasat, Foron district of Bark in Plateau, Premium Times reported.
Istifanus Gyang, a senator representing Plateau state described the killing as inhuman, barbaric, and devilish.
The lawmaker decried the growing attacks, especially on traditional rulers.
In a statement issued by his media aide, the senator said:
“The murderous act is a thing of concern that the attacks have continued in spite of a series of peace-building engagements and dialogue has been undertaken at governmental and non governmental levels."
Gyang stated that some people are determined to continue terrorising communities despite several peaceful interventions.
He warned that the violence by criminals and terrorists could escalate further if not checked by the government.
Those responsible for the killing of the monarch have not yet been identified or arrested by the police.
