Chelsea will officially announce the signing of Edouard Mendy from Ligue 1 side Rennes within the next 24 hours, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The Blues are desperate to land a formidable replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga who has started the season on a shaky note.
Frank Lampard's side suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Liverpool following two costly errors from the Spanish goalie.
And with the season not yet in full flight, the deal for Mendy is almost concluded as the 28-year-old will be announced any moment.

According to Sky Sports, the goalkeeper is discussing personal terms with the west London club.
After the 2-0 defeat to te Reds at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, Lampard spoke about Kepa's errors after the game.
“We have to keep working, Kepa has to keep working.
“He is our player and it is clear now that there are two games where we have felt, today was a clear mistake and and Brighton was a mistake too and he has reflected on it in that way.
“We have to keep working, it is the rule of football.
“Players need support, particularly from myself. I give that to all the players.
“Kepa has to keep working, nobody tries to make mistakes in football, it is the nature of the game.

Lampard also confirmed that Chelsea's second choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero will be in between the stick when they face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.
