The Imo state government has dismissed a report claiming that Governor Hope Uzodinma rejected the outcome of the Edo state governorship election.
The report which surfaced on Monday, September 21, had alleged that the governor said the Edo state election was marred by irregularities.
But in a swift reaction on twitter, the Imo state government distanced itself from the report, describing it as fake news.
"Watch out for this fake press release. Every press release from @GovtOfImoStateis communicated through official platforms across all social media channels of the government," the Imo state government warned.
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for upholding smooth electoral processes in the Edo governorship election.
El-Rufai stated that as a lover of democracy, the president allowed things to take their natural cause in the just-concluded poll, Channels TV reported.
He noted that President Buhari-led government, unlike past administrations, will never resort to what people know as federal might to influence the results of polls.
In another news, ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan has sent a congratulatory message to Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over his victory in the Edo state election.
Jonathan in a series of tweets on Sunday, September 20, said the people of Edo state through their ballot papers have spoken in favour of the governor.
The former president urged the re-elected governor to govern all people of his state without any partisan bias.
Still on Edo election, after leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a remarkable victory in the Edo guber election, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state was accorded a rousing welcome back home by his kinsmen.
Wike, who arrived Port Harcourt with top members of PDP and cabinet members on Sunday, September 20, was given a heroic welcome by the waiting crowd
The governor waved to the joyous teeming supporters who saluted his courageous leadership and political prowess which earned Governor Godwin Obaseki a landslide reelection victory against all odds.
Wike has also spoken about the conduct of the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the just concluded Edo gubernatorial election.
Wike expressed satisfaction over the activities of the INEC and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) that led to a hitch-free poll.
As the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s national campaign council, Wike earlier complained about the behaviour of some security agents who besieged the hotel he resided during the gubernatorial poll on Saturday, September 19.
