Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel, has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki who re-elected by the Edo people for a second term in office.
In a congratulatory message released by his spokesman, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Emmanuel first thanked God for ushering in a peaceful and credible election in Edo state and drew similarities to what happened last year in Akwa Ibom.
“Today, our brothers and sisters in Edo state have replicated the same wholesome faith and belief in God over the boastful exuberance of ordinary mortals by voting to return a leader who best represents their values and ethos; a doer and not a talker.”
On his part, Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, congratulated Obaseki and his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, on their re-election.
In a statement by his spokesman, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, on Sunday, September 20, Okowa described the re-election of Obaseki as “the confirmation of the will of the people” and called on Nigerians to always stand for good leaders as Edo people just did for Obaseki.
The governor, who is the chairman of South-South Governors’ Forum, said that with the re-election of Obaseki, the entire region was now being ruled by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“The most significant aspect of this victory is the peaceful outcome of the election as Edo people proved pundits wrong by ensuring that the elections were devoid of violence.”
Similarly, Governor Samuel Ortom has congratulated Obaseki on his victory at the just-concluded Edo state governorship election.
Ortom described Governor Obaseki’s victory as a true reflection of the wishes of Edo people and not the machinations of some individuals and self-made gods.
The Benue state governor commended the dogged determination of Governor Obaseki to “overcome intimidation and uphold the mandate his people gave him.”
