Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Obaseki has reacted to his victory as the winner of the just-concluded Edo state governorship election.
Obaseki who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the candidate of the APC, Ize-Iyamu, and other candidates.
In his reaction, Obaseki said words failed in commending his supporters, saying their collective will made the "triumph over godfatherism" possible, apparently referring to the former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
Similarly, a former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday, September 20, reacted to the reelection of Obaseki.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng, Atiku congratulated Governor Obaseki noting that the end of godfatherism has come in Nigeria.
The former presidential candidate went on to state that it is a new dawn in Edo state, adding that the hard-won victory of Governor Obaseki is a declaration of independence from the anti-democratic forces of godfatherism and militarism.
Atiku also thanked the Oba of Benin, His Royal Highness, Omo N'oba N'Edo Uku Akpolopkolo, Ewuare II, for the fatherly role he played as a neutral catalyst for peace in the state.
