Premier League champions Liverpool have reportedly shown interest in signing out-of-favour Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele on a season-long loan deal.
The Reds have been silent in the transfer market so far but are now planning to add to their squad just before the window closes.
Barely 24 hours ago, the Bayern Munich manager Hans-Dieter Flick confirmed Thiago Alcantara has left the club with Anfield his most preferred destination.
Sport Bible quoting Spanish news outlet SPORT, the EPL champions have enquired from the Catalans about landing the Frenchman for a free but are yet to get feedback on the inquiry.
The publication revealed that the Merseyside outfit is willing to take care of Dembele's wages but the Camp Nou side might only be interested in selling and not in a loan deal.
Jurgen Klopp still gets to keep his front three - Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, but he is looking to improve the attacking department by bringing in new players.
Dembele made a switch to Camp Nou in 2017 after joining the Catalans in a deal valued around €145 million including add ons from Borussia Dortmund.
He has however failed to justify his big pay at the Spanish club, hence they are hoping to offload the winger to open space for other stars.
The 23-year-old has not been impressive having made 74 appearances across competitions for the Catalans in previous seasons - though his reign has been marred by series of injuries at the club.
He is currently recovering from a hamstring tear which kept him out for the final 19 games of the season, having previously missed 21 games earlier in the season with another injury.
Lionel Messi has decided to stay put at the Catalan club but the new boss Ronald Koeman has added the duo of Francisco Trincao and youngster Pedri to the wings.
Legit.ng earlier reported that former Barcelona manager Quique Setien has threatened to take legal action against the club over the abrupt termination of his contract.
The 61-year-old and his three assistants were shown the exit doors after their 8-2 Champions League quarterfinal defeat to Bayern Munich last season.
Setien was appointed as a replacement for Ernesto Valverde after earlier this year but did not last beyond the 2019-20 season.
