Adesina, in reaction, further explained that criticisms must be looked at thoroughly to ascertain what value they add to discussions to move Nigeria forward.

According to Adesina, the former president has criticized every government since the Shehu Shagari administration succeeded him back in 1979.

He went on to add that Obasanjo's government is the only one the former president has not criticized.

The president's spokesman went on to note that though Obasanjo has a right to say his opinions, the Buhari government is also entitled to take the former president’s criticisms or dismiss them as claims.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the presidency berated Obasanjo over his recent statement criticizing President Buhari.

A statement signed by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu on Sunday, September 13, accused Obasanjo of attempts to divide the nation.

“The difference is clear. From the lofty heights of Commander-in-Chief, General Obasanjo has descended to the lowly level of Divider-in-Chief,” Shehu said.
