Barcelona cruised to their second straight victory under new boss Ronald Koeman as they continue their preparations towards the new season.

The Catalans enjoyed another impressive performance at the Johan Cryuff Stadium after beating Girona in their second test game this preseason.

Brazilian forward Philippe Coutinho was found the back of the net first in the 21st minute after tapping into the net from close range after a beautiful build-up moments before the goal.

Barca were unable to find another goal until the stroke of half time when Lionel Messi struck from long range to double their lead.

Barely 60 seconds on return to the pitch, Samuel Saiz reduced Girona's deficit with an impressive display.

The Argentine superstar completed his brace in the 51st minute with another stunning long-range effort that went beyond the reach of Juan Carlos.

Koeman's men have now scored six goals in their first two games this preseason but have also conceded at least a goal each in both encounters.

This however means that they must work to improve their backline before the real competition gets on the way in a matter of weeks.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi has become the fourth sportsman to earn a billion in his career after Forbes released his recent earnings with Barcelona.

The 33-year-old old was way ahead of rival Cristiano Ronaldo gulping a massive $126 million against the Portuguese's $117m.
