President Muhammadu Buhari is presently holding a vital meeting with members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC).
The meeting is holding at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, September 15, amid financial crisis the Nigerian economy is currently facing, further aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
All members of the council, including its chairman Prof Doyin Salami and the council's secretary Prof Ode Ojowu and vice-chairman Mohammed Sagagi, are at the meeting.
Former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Bismark Rewane and Mohammed Salisu are also at the meeting presided over by the president.
Minister of finance, budget and national planning, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, incumbent CBN Governor Godwin Emiefiele and the minister of humanitarian services and disaster management, Sadiya Farouq attended the meeting physically.
Meanwhile, President Buhari on Monday, September 14, appointed four new permanent secretaries into the federal civil service.
The head of the civil service of the federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, made this known in a statement issued on Monday, Septemeber 14, in Abuja. The statement was signed by the director information, office of the head of the civil service of the federation, Olawunmi Ogunmosunle.
The newly appointed permanent secretaries included Sule James from Kaduna, Abubakar Ismaila from Kebbi, Patricia Roberts from Rivers and Shehu Shinkafi from Zamfara state.
In a related development, President Buhari appointed some top members of the executive cabinet into the Special Purpose Vehicle for Presidential Power Initiate (SPVPPI).
The appointment was approved by the president on Thursday, September 10, as contained in a statement from the office of the ministry of justice.
Members of the committee include the attorney general of the federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), the minister of finance, budget, and national planning, Hajia Zainab Ahmed.
