Argentine football great Jorge Valdano has urged Barcelona legend Lionel Messi not to make a move to the Premier League when his contract expires at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona chiefs laboured so hard before they succeeded in making Messi accept to play for the Catalans in the coming League season.
Messi was disappointed with the side's embarrassing defeat in the Champions League against Bayern Munich and handed in a transfer request.
Messi who has won six Ballon d'Or awards was immediately linked with a move to join Premier League side Manchester City.
Valdano who was among the Argentine stars who won the 1986 World Cup has now advised Messi to move to France instead of the Premier League.
“I don’t know if the Premier League which is super competitive would be a good place for him to go.
“Paris would be more comfortable, more bearable for the last years of the career of a genius.
“He’s a very competitive player who knows how to time himself to stay sharp by playing games and who does not easily accept being a substitute waiting for the big moments,'' Valdano told Onda Cero’s ‘El Transistor’ programme.
Lionel Messi and his teammates at Barcelona will be facing Villarreal in their first game of the 2020/21 Spanish La Liga season.

Barcelona chiefs recently succeeded in persuading the six-time Ballon d'Or winner to stay at the Camp Nou after being linked with a move to Manchester City.
