However, the festivities were the last thing on her mind as she was nine months pregnant and had only a few days to go before delivering her second child.

Speaking to My Wedding magazine, Barbara said she did not want her baby to arrive before tying the knot, adding that pregnancy is the only thing she would have changed from the big day.

“I was due in a week’s time but I did not want my baby to be delivered before our wedding. We set all the dates mindful that the ceremony would be before my due date. I was unable to wear high heels and chose a Cinderella gown and changing dresses that would not affect our baby. Imagine pulling all the dance strokes fearing that you do not go into labour," Barba recalled the events.

Barbara prayed during the church service that all ends well without any interruption from the contractions.

“The baby kicks during the church service were inevitable but I had to enjoy my day. At the reception, I felt a pang but I was able to maneuver and the day ended successfully,” she told My Wedding.

She advised pregnant women planning for a wedding to have someone to count on as the situation is stressful and can lead to early labour.

Martin and Barbara met at their workplace and it happened that they started interacting during a staff day out where a friendship was born.
