Obadiah Mailafia, the former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 presidential election has alleged that some strange people are after him.
The ex-CBN deputy governor made the claim on Monday, September 14, in Jos, the Plateau state capital after he was interrogated for a third time by the DSS, The Cable reported.
He said he has reason to believe that his life is in danger, claiming that he has been getting threatening calls.
Mailafia alleged that some strange people recently attempted to break into a building he was staying in, forcing him to jump a fence and escape.
“I have indicated that I have reason to believe that my life has been in danger. I have no conclusive proof but I get threats, I get calls.
“Where I was staying, on Thursday, I saw some strange people at the gate trying to break in. I jumped the fence and escaped because I don’t know who they are," he said.
Mailafia, however, stated that he has no evidence to back up his claim that his life is under threat.
According to Premium Times, the former banker also backpedaled on some of the allegations he made about the security situation in the country during a radio interview.
He stated that he has no evidence to back his allegations that the government was culpable in the killing of Nigerians.
He also pointed out that he could not validate his claims that an unnamed Nigerian governor was a sponsor of bandits killing Nigerians.
Legit.ng had reported that Mailafia was released by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) after he was invited for interrogation for a third time. Mailafia was allowed to go home at about 2:50 pm, with cheers from his supporters.
Speaking after his release, Mailafia commended the DSS for their professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He said the DSS exhibited a high sense of professionalism in the way they handled the matter.
