- Reports say the deal to the Clarets has been completed and announcement is expected any moment
Emiliano Martínez has completed his transfer to Aston Villa as the Arsenal goalkeeper joined the Clarets for around £20million and signed a four-year contract.
Official confirmation by Villa is expected any moment after the 28-year-old goalkeeper had completed his medical on September 13 to seal the deal.
Villa who survived the drop on the final match day of last season had an initial £15 million bid rejected by the Gunners who want £20million.
A deal has been agreed between the two clubs as Villa are understood to want Martinez in their season opener.
Martinez recently turned down an improved contract offer from the Gunners as the shot-stopper wants to be promoted as first-choice ahead of Leno at the Emirates.
The Argentine shot-stopper joins Villa on a four-year in a deal worth £60,000-per-week.
Meanwhile, Edouard Mendy’s deal to Premier League outfit Chelsea is almost completed with latest reports confirming that the Rennes goalkeeper has completed his medicals at the London club.
Mendy left the French club on Friday, September 11, with speculations that he was heading to the UK to complete the signing of his contract with the Blues.
The Senegalese international is reportedly on the verge of joining the Blues who have reached an agreement with French League side Rennes over the transfer of their player after a breakthrough in talks between the two parties last week.
Rennes president Nicolas Holveck made it clear during a press conference that he was willing to let the player go permitting there is an agreement with all parties.
That has now been reached and according to The Athletic's Adam Leventhal, who claims the deal is now close.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Willian created a double assist in the Premier League opener as Arsenal defeated hosts Fulham 3-0 on Sunday afternoon, September 12.
It was a 'Willian show' as the former Chelsea star set-up Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang who all got the goals to put Arsenal to a flying start to the season.
The Brazilian who dazzled in the entire fixture also came close as he went on the hit the woodwork from a freekick in the first-half, but he gave a good account of himself on his Arsenal debut as fans go haywire about his performance.
