- Former Ekiti governor Fayose has said he agreed with Obasanjo on his statement that Nigeria is becoming a failed state
- Fayose said the Buhari administration his not governing the country well
- According to the former governor, the APC administration in five years is more terrible than the PDP's in 16 years
The former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has agreed with former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his statement that Nigeria is becoming a failed state under President Muhammadu Buhari.
Fayose stated this on Saturday night, September 12, during an Instagram live chat with the popular journalist, Dele Momodu.
The former governor said though he usually does not agree with Obasanjo on national issues, all that the former president said of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari are becoming reality.
He lamented the insecurity and rising debt profile of the country just as he claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has performed more terribly in five years than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 16 years.
His words: “Of all the Presidents, I don’t like Obasanjo's ways, I tell you the truth; I don’t like his ways at all. Me and him we are not on the same page but Obasanjo is the only one-time Nigerian President that has helped this country here and there.
“That was why what Obasanjo said today (Saturday), in a way, I agree with him. We don’t normally agree but I agree with him."
Speaking further, the former governor said Nigeria will not progress until the electoral process is reformed.
“This APC in five years is dastardly, more terrible than the PDP in 16 years," he added.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Obasanjo unleashed a fresh volley of attacks on the incumbent, President Buhari over his handling of the country's affairs.
The former president warned that Nigeria is fast drifting towards a failed state under the administration of President Buhari.
However, the presidency has also berated Obasanjo over his statement, describing the former president as Divider-in-Chief.
A statement signed by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu on Sunday, September 13, accused Obasanjo of attempts to divide the nation.
“The difference is clear. From the lofty heights of Commander-in-Chief, General Obasanjo has descended to the lowly level of Divider-in-Chief,” Shehu said.
Similarly, the leadership of an inter-faith group has called on Nigerians across the country to shun the remarks made by Obasanjo.
The team of clerics under the aegis of National Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROP) urged Nigerians to ignore "prophets of doom" and pray for the country."
Reacting to the statement credited to the former Nigerian president, NIFROP's national coordinator, Sunday Garba, charged Nigerians to shun end-time preachers of doom.
