Senegal international Edouard Mendy is reportedly on the verge of joining the Blues who have reached an agreement with French League side Rennes over the transfer of their player after a breakthrough in talks between the two parties last week.
Rennes president Nicolas Holveck made it clear during a press conference that he was willing to let the player go permitting there is an agreement with all parties.
That has now been reached and according to The Athletic's Adam Leventhal, who claims the deal is now close.
He tweeted: “Told deal for keeper Edouard Mendy to move to Stamford Bridge is “almost done” from source at Rennes. Understand fee is €20m (+ €5m add-ons).”
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante is now a surprise target for Manchester United with latest reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with the Frenchman ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
UK outlet Daily Star reports that United are monitoring the Frenchman’s status at Stamford Bridge as the Blues have placed €60million price-tag to raise funds for their next target Declan Rice.
It was gathered that United boss Solskjaer is impressed with Kante and is ready to bring the defensive midfielder to the club should Chelsea be willing to let go.
Italian giants Inter Milan are also chasing the 2018 World Cup winner, but they will have to hope on Chelsea allowing him a move to Italy rather than Old Trafford.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Liverpool are desperately in need of a midfielder and Jurgen Klopp has been told by the club that he needs to raise funds if he truly wants to bring Bayern Munich’s Thiago to Anfield.
